Japan Making a comeback?

Posted September 8, 2008
By: Brad Meikle

In 2006 Japan was a leader in Solar with 20% of the world market.  Japan shrunk 12% in 2007 and we estimate a decline of more than 20% in 2008 to 200MW.  Perhaps in 2009 Japan will stimulate the domestic market.

Certainly Japan is a leader in production of modules (Sanyo and Kyocera), as well as two of the incumbent silicon makers (Sumitomo, Mitsubishi, Tokuyama).
